Enheten för militärmusik och Republiken Armeniens Generalstabsmusikkår sattes upp 1992. Sedan musikkåren bildades har den medverkat över 800 tillfällen vid statsceremonier, militära parader och andra konserter och uppvisningar. Musikkåren har uppträtt tillsammans med olika ensembler, tonsättare och artister. Man tar också aktiv del i främjandet av landets både militärhistoriska och sakrala musik.
Orkestern grundades av före detta löjtnant, numera överste Armen Poghosyan, utexaminerad musikdirektör vid P. Tjajkovskijs statliga musikkonservatorium i Moskva. Överste A. Poghosyan och är nu chef för Försvarsmaktens Musikkårer i Armenien och en belönad artist i Republiken Armenien.
Från 2004 och fram till dags dato leds musikkåren av musikdirektör Major T. Lalayan och hans ställföreträdare, musikdirektör kapten H. Grigoryan som båda starkt bidragit och bidrar till musikkårens utveckling.
Ett av de viktigaste målen för orkestern och dess ledare är genom att främja militärmusiken stärka moralen och höja engagemanget för det musikaliska och kulturella arvet. 		The Military Band Department and the orchestra of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia were raised in November 1992. From the very first days of its existence the orchestra has been actively taking part in over 800 state, government and administrative ceremonials and military parades, mass activities and concert-shows. The orchestra enjoys performing together with various ensembles, young composers and musicians. takes active part in promotion of military-patriotic as well as sacred music of its country.
The orchestra was founded by a former lieutenant, now colonel Armen Poghosyan, a graduate of military conductor department of Moscow State Conservatoire after P. Tchaikovsky. Colonel A. Poghosyan is now the Principal Military Conductor, the Head of the Military Band Department of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia and an Honoured Artist of the Republic of Armenia.
Starting from 2004 and up to the presentthe band is lead by the head of the orchestra, military conductor, major T. Lalayan and the his deputy, military conductor, captain H. Grigoryan both of whom devotedly contribute to further promotion of the band.
One of the major goals of the orchestra and its leaders is to bring up the soldiers to love and be devoted to their own country by promoting military and patriotic music thus strengthening their moral and patriotic feelings. to upgrade the musical and cultural level of the troops.
